The slow start to the evening eventually gearing up with all demonstrating their desire to succeed and achieve grading success….

Brown Belt Grading Success for Outstanding Dojo Foursome on Saturday 7th September 2013

The sounds of OSU and Kiai replaced the early morning silence at the Dojo on Saturday 7th September…….
 
Supported by a Dojo full of fellow students, parents, families and friends, 4 of the Dojo’s adult students attempted their brown belt grading that morning…
 
After a challenging and at times gruelling grading, all emerged with smiles and much deserved grading success….

Successful BBQ fundraiser at Mitre 10 Sunday 7th July 2013

Despite the bitingly cold weather conditions, some of the Dojo’s most amazing students braved the conditions to run a highly successful
fundraising BBQ outside MEGA Mitre 10 in Petone
 
The exercise was a sell out and helping to raise spending money for equipment for the Dojo….

Seido Lower Hutt Celebrates its First Black Belt Student – Leighton Szeto Wednesday 10th April 2013

Wednesday the 10th of April was a most significant and special day for Seido’s Lower Hutt Dojo…..
 
After a gruelling and challenging 3 and a half hour grading taken by Kyoshi Tony Gaeta, South Wellington Seido’s principal instructor, Leighton Szeto emerged as Lower Hutt Dojo’s first black belt student…
 
The special highlights of this grading being his exemplary standard of technique, his strength of spirit and his determination to attain this most special of achievements in his karate journey…
 
The Lower Hutt Dojo’s vocal support club of in excess of 100 strong young and old, a true testament to the Dojo’s incredible sense of family and togetherness….
 
Well Done and Huge Congratulations to Giovanna Moretto, Cathie Duthie and My Hanh Hoang, you are all a credit to your Brooklyn Dojo and most importantly to yourselves and families…..

Seido Karate Wellington Celebrates 30th Birthday – Saturday 30th March 2013

Current and former students of Seido Karate Wellington celebrated 30 years of Seido in Wellington this weekend….
 
It was a very special weekend with events kicked off with an outstanding black belt grading on Saturday morning taken by Jun Shihan Danny Watson (Seido Devonport Dojo)
 
The Mercure Hotel hosting the Celebratory Dinner attended by noted visitors Hanshi Renzie Hanham, Jun Shihan Danny Watson, Kyoshi John Esposito, Senpai Richard Ivess, Kyoshi Tony Cope and made all the more special with the attendances of several of Wellington Seido Dojo legends from the past…….Kyoshi Archimedes and Senpai Brian Morris

New Zealand Shihans’ National Seido Karate Tournament

On behalf of Jun Shihan Ben Otang, and the New Zealand Jun Shihans, I invite you and your students to attend the first Jun Shihans’ National Seido Karate Tournament.

 

Competitors and supporters are all welcome at the tournament, and the other events over the weekend  – including general classes with Nidaime and a Sayonara Party.

The tournament will take place in Wellington, New Zealand, on 22 June 2013. Competition for juniors (up to 15 years of age) includes kata, points kumite and randoori tag; competition for adults includes kata, points and semi-contact kumite, and for dan grades only, weapons kata. All dan grade finals will take place during the Showcase Event in the evening of 22 June.

 

Registrations open at Easter 2013 and close on 7 June. You are encouraged to register and pay online for entry fees and the Sayonara Party; dojo wishing to make a single group payment should contact us at tournament@kaizenacademy.co.nz
