Talented Collegiate, Hamish Horan takes aim at higher sporting honours 4th February 2015

Hamish Horan, one of Lower Hutt Dojo’s most talented collegiate aged students has been rewarded with
sporting success in another of his chosen sporting pursuits…”Archery”

Winning double gold in the cadet class target and clout events at the Wellington provincial championships held recently in Wanganui…

Hamish’s sights are now set upon more success at the upcoming Under 20 north island Junior Archery Championships in Rotorua later in the year…

Well done to an outstanding and exemplary karate-ka and young man….

It was the best way to end the year for our Wonderful Dojo kids….It was a game of “Spray and Walk Away”

The Kids tried valiantly to demonstrate their kata in front of the “enthusiastically armed” adult students judging panel……needless to say no-one walked away without getting sprayed…..

They’ve done it again…..Super Star Sisters Amelia and Bronte Walshe have again won with Big Stage Success…..
Following on from their starring roles in “ANNIE” and then “The Sound of Music” they have both been signed for a season of “The Sound of Music” in China…..

“Amazing, Wonderful, Awesome, JUST EPIC, Perfect Just Perfect – Junior Leadership Tournament Group Trip to Sydney” 12th to 16th November 2014

Those were just some of the words used by our “Tournament Group Kids” to describe their 5 days of “Absolute Fun” in Sydney as part of their trip to attend this years 2014 Seido Karate National Australian Tournament…..

It was all “Fun, Fun, Fun” from the moment we arrived at the York Apartments Hotel in Sydney’s busy CBD….with sightseeing walks and group activities on everyday….

And yes, we even managed to fit in a day of high energy competition on the Saturday at the tournament…

Sei Shihan Ino Macquirang and his Broadway Dojo students ensuring that everything ran like clockwork over the 5 competition mats throughout the day….and making everyone feel welcome and just like part of the Sydney Dojo family….

Sei Shihan Ino advising all that this years tournament was the largest yet with over 165 students competing and all Australian Dojo’s being present including 4 from New Zealand……..(Christchurch, Timaru, Wellington and of course Lower Hutt)….

Convalescing well at home after quadruple heart bypass surgery….Phil Broadley 24th November 2014

After undergoing quadruple heart bypass surgery last week at Wellington’s Wakefield Specialist Hospital, one of the Dojo’s most loved senior students Phil Broadley looked the perfect picture of health when visited at home by senior students Wendy Trimmer-Beattie, Peri Stackhouse and Senpai Leighton Szeto
“It has been a positive and life changing experience for me” said Phil…..
Recovery will be a challenging time ahead for Phil, but he hopes to be back at the Dojo soon not to train but to catch up with everyone particularly before the Xmas and New Year holiday periods….
You are an inspiration to us all Phil…..we look forward to seeing you very soon up at the Dojo….

On a cold and blustery night, Sei Shihan Ben, Brooklyn Dojo’s Principal Instructor, started what is to become the first of his monthly visits to the Lower Hutt Dojo…..

Lower Hutt Dojo has enjoyed the company of Seido Karate Brisbane student Alex Fox for the past week….

Alex is back home visiting family in Eastbourne and has been sharing her karate skills with us all at Seido Karate Lower Hutt Dojo…
