Absolutely inspirational….the efforts of all grading candidates last night was simply inspirational from both young and old…
 
It was a demonstration of the true invincibility of the human spirit when faced with physical, emotional and personal challenge….
 
Patience, honesty and a deeper appreciation of the importance of the support and love of those around you key lessons learnt from the evening…
 
I am so very proud to have you all as students and friends…it is my privilege to be able to guide you all on your individual journeys through the way that is karate-do….
 
Thank you to all students and families for attending and supporting an amazing bunch of people…

Melbourne, what an amazing place to visit, made even more special with a visit to catch up with Senpai Matt Barker and the wonderful people at SEIDO Richmond Dojo…
 
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and having some floor time with you all….your kids were “fun and outrageously funny” and your adult students were a real treat to train with…
 
Thank you Kyoshi Tome, Kyoshi Pippa and Senpai Sophie for the warm welcome to your Dojo and your kind hospitality afterwards at the great old pub down the road..
 
Thank you to Senpai’s Matt, Matt, Nonni, Nellie, Tepp, Jake and kyu grade students Ben and James for sharing your time training with me…

Talented Juniors battle through grading challenges with true determination and perseverance – Friday 3rd August 2018

It was a night that needed an attitude of “determination and perseverance” for all grading Junior students..
 
Physical challenges were merged with mind testing challenges throughout the evening…
 
The big picture meaning of karate and what it was all about becoming crystal clear at the very end of their hard earned efforts…
 
“Karate is about appreciating and celebrating Love, Love of family, Love of yourself and Love of life”…..
 
Well done to you all…keep training and learning….and thank you to your amazing families for their amazing support…

“Thank you so much to you ALL” for making our tournament such a huge and enjoyable event….
 
Everyone played a part and everyone contributed to the family friendly atmosphere for ALL to enjoy…
 
The Black Belts, brown belts and all involved in the administration of the RINGS, really do deserve GOLD medals as well for keeping things running so smoothly despite early morning reshuffles with draws….
 
ALL the Coffee baristas, the BBQ Kings, the mum and dad bakers and everyone who brought the amazing array of food for all to enjoy…
 
“THANK YOU SO MUCH”….your efforts kept the crowd of well over 300 people happily fed and contented throughout what was a busy, busy day of karate…
 
Everyone raved about the soups…thank you to our amazing star soup cookers…..
 
“THANK YOU SO MUCH” to all the Wellington Region SEIDO Dojo Heads and ALL your talented students and ALL the Dojo Black Belts from the region who came along to support and offer their judging expertise throughout the days full program of events…
 
Jun Shihan Tony (South Wellington Dojo) thank you for your experienced management and refereeing of the “high energy” Points Sparring event…
 
Jun Shihan Peter (Wellington Dojo) thank you for your experienced Chief Judge management of the busiest Ring of the day, which covered the the white belts, blue belts and hugely entertaining Parent & Child kata divisions…
 
But most of all “CONGRATULATIONS” to all our exceptionally talented Wellington Region Junior and Collegiate students and your amazingly dedicated parents…you were ALL winners on the day…

Nidan and Shodan grading day “A challenging affair for all” at Wellington Dojo – Saturday 23rd June 2018

23 June 2018
It was an early morning 5am start  for all, as 3 of Wellington Dojo’s black belt students Geoff, Ann and Anthea we put ably their paces by Kyoshi Avis….
 
Well supported and encouraged throughout, all 3 emerged with smiles as big as houses….their hard work and efforts deservedly rewarded with grading success…
 
Then it was time for the 4 Shodan candidates, Ben, Megan, Hing Yee and Daniel…ranging in ages from 13 to 48, each gave their all throughout the grading in front of the large and enthusiastic group of supporters, fellow karate-ka, family members and friends
 
Jun Shihan Glenys officiating the grading and happy enough with their efforts to award them all with their shodan belts…
 
It was an awesome day of gradings followed by a yummy BBQ lunch..time for everyone to celebrate and catch up…

It was an evening of inspiration and awesomeness as 7 of the Dojo’s Junior students overcame the challenges of their first grading…
 
Despite the differences in ages, all demonstrated true “SEIDO Spirit” and powered their way through each of the mental and physical grading obstacles placed in front of them…
 
Well Done to you all and thank you to your wonderful families, friends and fellow students for your amazing support..
 
Thank you also to all instructors and the many fantastic mums who help so much behind the scenes…

It was wonderful to see Senpai’s Matt and Jacob Barker at class last night…..Matt, Rachael and Jacob now living in Melbourne
 
Having their loud OSU’s and Kiai’s back in the Dojo brought back many fond memories for everyone…
 
It only heightens ones appreciation of the emphasis that SEIDO Karate places upon “Family-ness and Friendships” human values that are everlasting and truly world wide…
