Great Morning of Effort leads to Grading Success for All – SEIDO Brooklyn Dojo General Grading Saturday 8th September 2018

It was a great way to spend a morning in Wellington, supporting one SEIDO Wellington’s favourite young personalities Ben Ives as he attempted his 1st kyu grading at Brooklyn Dojo along with 6 of his fellow Dojo students…
 
Jun Shihan Peter challenging everyone as he tested their knowledge of syllabus and then pushing them hard throughout with their sparring…
 
Well done to you all on a great mornings effort…..and thank you Brooklyn Dojo for the warm hospitality and yummy sausage sizzle afterwards……always nice to have post grading catch ups with everyone…

Wonderful demonstration of true determination and self belief – Thursday 6th September 2018

Absolutely inspirational….the efforts of all grading candidates last night was simply inspirational from both young and old…
 
It was a demonstration of the true invincibility of the human spirit when faced with physical, emotional and personal challenge….
 
Patience, honesty and a deeper appreciation of the importance of the support and love of those around you key lessons learnt from the evening…
 
I am so very proud to have you all as students and friends…it is my privilege to be able to guide you all on your individual journeys through the way that is karate-do….
 
Thank you to all students and families for attending and supporting an amazing bunch of people…

Melbourne, what an amazing place to visit, made even more special with a visit to catch up with Senpai Matt Barker and the wonderful people at SEIDO Richmond Dojo…
 
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and having some floor time with you all….your kids were “fun and outrageously funny” and your adult students were a real treat to train with…
 
Thank you Kyoshi Tome, Kyoshi Pippa and Senpai Sophie for the warm welcome to your Dojo and your kind hospitality afterwards at the great old pub down the road..

Talented Juniors battle through grading challenges with true determination and perseverance – Friday 3rd August 2018

It was a night that needed an attitude of “determination and perseverance” for all grading Junior students..
 
Physical challenges were merged with mind testing challenges throughout the evening…
 
The big picture meaning of karate and what it was all about becoming crystal clear at the very end of their hard earned efforts…
 
“Karate is about appreciating and celebrating Love, Love of family, Love of yourself and Love of life”…..

ALL the Coffee baristas, the BBQ Kings, the mum and dad bakers and everyone who brought the amazing array of food for all to enjoy…
 
“THANK YOU SO MUCH”….your efforts kept the crowd of well over 300 people happily fed and contented throughout what was a busy, busy day of karate…

Nidan and Shodan grading day “A challenging affair for all” at Wellington Dojo – Saturday 23rd June 2018

It was an early morning 5am start  for all, as 3 of Wellington Dojo’s black belt students Geoff, Ann and Anthea we put ably their paces by Kyoshi Avis….
 
Well supported and encouraged throughout, all 3 emerged with smiles as big as houses….their hard work and efforts deservedly rewarded with grading success…
 
Then it was time for the 4 Shodan candidates, Ben, Megan, Hing Yee and Daniel…ranging in ages from 13 to 48, each gave their all throughout the grading in front of the large and enthusiastic group of supporters, fellow karate-ka, family members and friends
 
Jun Shihan Glenys officiating the grading and happy enough with their efforts to award them all with their shodan belts…
 
It was an awesome day of gradings followed by a yummy BBQ lunch..time for everyone to celebrate and catch up…

Despite the differences in ages, all demonstrated true “SEIDO Spirit” and powered their way through each of the mental and physical grading obstacles placed in front of them…
