First Grading Challenges overcome with amazing perseverance and determination – Monday 29th July 2019

It was a nervous start to the grading for Tara and Lucy….but as the challenges were put in front of them one by one, each of these talented young karate-ka finding their own ways to overcome them and share with everyone their pride and joy in achieving grading success… Each expressing their heartfelt gratitude to their very special parents for their unquestionable support with their karate and their young lives…. The overwhelming message that SEIDO Karate journey is in fact a “whole of family journey” resonating with all in attendance…young and old Well done Tara and Lucy…and thank you so much to your wonderful parents Dom, Anja, John and Charlotte.. Warmest regardsOSUKen Szeto and all at SEIDO Karate Lower Hutt

“Fantastic Four” demonstrate the true strength of the SEIDO human spirit in first grading – Thursday 4th July 2019

“Nervous but excited” the overwhelming feeling expressed by all 4 grading candidates on the night…. Their individual journey’s also sharing commonalities with……putting family time aside to train, juggling work pressures and dealing with the thoughts of what might or might not be asked of them during the grading… The size of the smiles on their faces post grading however, reflecting the huge levels of effort, dedication and personal elation as all 4 most deservedly gained grading success… Thank you to everyone who came to support especially family and friends and all our wonderful black belt seniors and kyu grade students… Well Done Farrand, Simone, Janine and Nicky, you guys were all AWESOME….

Congratulations to our very own journeyman, 40 years of karate celebrated with wonderful attitude and energy – Black belt grading Saturday 9th March 2019

It was standing room only as families, supporters and fellow karate-ka gathered to attend the black belt grading of the 8 candidates from 3 different Dojo attempted their shodan grading at Wellington Dojo…. It was indeed a celebration of karate journeys for both both young and old…….but for one student in particular it was a very special day indeed… Congratulations to our vey own Dojo journeyman, Vince Bailey….who celebrated 40 years of karate with grading success… A big Congratulations also to all the other new Senpai’s David, Kate and Shaun from Wellington Dojo, Kerri, Dean, Jess and Cameron from Manawatu Dojo….. Inspiring efforts from you all…. Warmest regardsOSUKen Szeto and all at SEIDO Karate Lower Hutt Dojo

Fantastic Way to Finish the Karate Year – Nidan Grading Wellington Dojo Saturday 15th December 2018

It was a fantastic way to end our Karate year for 2018….
The 5am morning start time, a new experience for all 7 candidates from Lower Hutt Dojo, Wellington Dojo and Upper Hutt Dojo…
Amidst the physical challenges there were some touching and special moments of passion, emotion and humility as each student spoke of the ups and downs of their unique SEIDO journey’s…..
Well supported by a large contingent of fellow black belts, each and every candidate giving their all throughout…

Love, Respect and Obedience mixed with a great deal of Courage – Adults Grading 11th December 2018

The fundamental foundations of SEIDO Karate were truly on show last night…..
Love, Respect and Obedience mixed with amazing personal courage making the evening a special one…
Despite the differences in their individual journey’s,  the personal drivers for all who graded ending in one common reason for continuing with their karate training…
It’s about the unique friendships and the priority in our Dojo for appreciating “Love for each other and Love for others” that brought them all together…

It wasn’t an easy relaxing afternoon at the Dojo for some…
Maddison, Jake, Leo, Anesh and Angus giving their all as each grading challenge arose…
Confronting physical challenges were mixed with multiple kata combinations…and to top it all off push ups…everyone’s favourite karate activity….
